Today Male Critique got the chance to attend the spring summer 2014 runway show for Carmen Marc Valvo at Lincoln Center! It was truly an spectacular showing! But before we get to runway show and telling you all about the collection, Me and Rashad were granted access backstage before the show started earlier that morning to interview celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson! Immediately as we walked backstage I was style struck by the the black and bleach blonde bobs Ted and his team were giving to the models, so I asked what was the inspiration behind the hair for the show? What he ended up explaining that the hair was based on the idea and concept from the show which was “techno tribal”. He said he started to think bout how cool tribes were and he thought about Aztec, Indian tribes, and he said immediately he thought of the bob and how he could make it more modern, so he dip dyed the hair with the ends being black and the rest of the hair being bleach blonde to come up with this cool look for the show!

Now to the runway! Once we concluded our interview with the AMAZING Ted Gibson we made our way back to the front of the Lincoln Center tents so we could take our seats and wait for the fashion show to start! Tuck in below and check out the pics from the show as well as my thoughts on the show!
LOVED Carmen’s collection! First time attending one of his shows and this definitely wont be the last! From start to finish I was obsessed with the how well the collection flowed, even with very minimal color change the genius behind this collection is the embellishments and intricacy that’s put into the collection. The mix of hard and soft materials done right is always a winner with me, because to be quit frank it can sometimes come off as tacky and Carmen handled this with style and grace! I loved the the inspiration behind the collection which goes backs to what I spoke about above was the “techno tribal” idea, from the Aztec-esque cut outs and almost warrior type markings some of the garments seem to covey is stunning! All in all great collection hope you guys enjoyed as much as me!
